Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM)




















  • JnNURM is a Government of India (GoI) scheme to revitalize Urban Infrastructure and Governance in 65 Mission cities across the Country.

  • The Mission comprises two sub-missions, viz., the Urban Infrastructure & Governance (UIG) and the Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP), which are being implemented in Bangalore and Mysore of Karnataka.


  • Mission period is from 2005-06 to 2014-15


1. Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG)

·         Under UIG Sub-Mission, 49 projects were sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 3765.84 crore of which 39 projects estimated Rs. 2887.19 crore were for Bangalore and 10 projects estimated Rs. 878.65 crore for Mysore city.

·         32 projects have been completed as on 31st March, 2016.  




Achievements of the three years (Apr 13-March 16): 
  
Physical Progress:

During the period, 7 projects have been completed as below:
·         Development of Transport Infrastructure Facilities of Mysore City.
·         Intelligent Transport System and Innovative Environment Project for Mysore City.
·         Underground Drainage System in Yelahanka Town
·         Water Management through Surface and Rainwater Harvesting at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens
·         Upgradation of 2 Lane Outer Ring Road to 6 Lane of Mysore  (Bangalore to Nanjangud Road)
·         Underground Drainage System and Road Restoration in R.R.Nagar
·         Underground Drainage System in Kengeri Town


  Financial Progress:
·         During the period, Rs. 274.19 crore (Central and State share) has been released for 49 projects under this Sub-Mission. Of which, Rs. 906.28 crore has been spent including ULB share.

2. Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP)

·         Under BSUP Sub-Mission, 18 projects were sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 837.79  crore of which 14 projects at Rs. 578.95 crore were for Bangalore and 4 projects estimated at Rs. 258.84 crore were for Mysore city.

·         Total 27925 dwelling units, with all essential services, in 158 slums of Bangalore and Mysore together, have been approved so far.


·         26707 DUs have been completed and 948 DUs are under construction. Totally, 6 projects have been completed. The financial progress is Rs. 769.53 crore as on March, 2016.  

Achievements in 3 Years (Apr 13-March, 2016):  
     Physical progress:
During the period, out of total 18 projects, 6254 DUs and 4 projects have been completed as below:

·         Nagareshwara Nagenahalli slum area for the construction of 208 DUs.
·         Kanteeravanagara slum area for the construction of 487DUs.
·         Roshan Nagara slum area for the construction of 320 DUs.
·         Veerabadranagar  slum area for the construction of 256 DUs.

Financial Progress:
·       During this period, Rs. 133.68 crore has been released (Central and State share) and
Rs. 211.63 crore has been spent, including beneficiaries share.

Reforms:
·       JNNURM mandates implementation of Reforms for which the State has signed a MoA with Govt. of India.
·       Out of 23 State and City level reforms, all the 23 reforms have already been implemented.
·       11, out of 12 Urban Transportation related Reforms have been implemented.

Achievements in the three years:
·       1 Reform, namely, Earmarking of at least 20-25 percent of Developed Land in all Housing Projects (both Public and Private Agencies) for EWS/LIG Category with System of Cross Subsidization has been implemented during this period.
·       Calibration of Reforms: Karnataka Scored (Calibrated) 95.4% Marks for implementation of Reforms mandated under JnNURM and stands 2nd rank in the Country.

·       The State has been recognised as the best performance State in implementation of JnNURM (BSUP) schemes.

 JnNURM - Transition Phase (TP):

1. Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG):  7 projects amounting to Rs 418.14 crore have been approved till date. Of this, Central Government share is Rs. 272.63 crore and State Government share is Rs. 48.69 crore, against which the Government of India has already released Rs.68.16 crore and Government of Karnataka has release  its share of Rs 12.17. crore.

·       Additional Central Assistance (ACA) has been revised from Rs.272.63 crore to Rs.188.42 crore for UIG-TP projects by GoI and the grants will be released under AMRUT.
Achievements in 3 Years

Financial Progress: During the period, Rs. 6.32 crore has been spent including ULB share.

2. Urban Transport: For Bangalore and Mysore 8 Projects amounting to Rs 298.50 crore have been approved. Of this, Central Government share is Rs. 108.03 crore and State Government share is Rs. 43.20 crore, against which the Government of India has already released Rs.54.00 crore and Government of Karnataka has release its share of Rs 21.60. crore.
·       Total No. of Buses sanctioned has been revised from 926 to 593. ACA for UT projects has been revised from 108.03 to 98.54 crore committed by GoI under AMRUT.

Achievements in 3 Years

Physical progress:
·         During the period, out of total 8 projects, 1 project, namely, Construction of Bus Depot at M.S. Palya has been completed.

Financial Progress:
During the period, Rs. 42.25 crore has been spent including ULB share.
