Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT)




















1. Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS Project:

  •   The implementation of Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS project is under progress. The construction of BRT Terminals, BRT Depot, BRT Workshop and pedestrian facility is included in this project. The construction of BRT Depots in Hubballi-Dharwad, divisional workshop in Gokul Road, Hubballi, regional terminal in Hubballi, Dharwad OCBS, BRT bus stations and pedestrian facilities are in progress.
  •   The purchase order for procurement of 100 standard busses and 30 articulated buses has been placed. Out of 72.29 acres of land to be acquired 68.25 acres have been acquired. The construction of 12 kms of BRT corridor has been completed and the contract for mixed traffic lanes has been awarded and work is under progress.
  •   Rs.75.00 Cr in 2013-14, Rs.200 Cr. in 2014-15 and Rs.150.00 Cr in 2015-16 has been allocated in the Budget for this scheme this project.

2. Bangalore Suburban Rail Project:
RITES is preparing detailed project report for Phase-1A of the Bangalore Suburban Rail Project. They have submitted draft final report and same has been submitted to Railways for review. The railways have responded back with some quarries and compliance has already been submitted to railways. In Railway Budget the Hon’ble Railway Minister has announced that railways will partner with Government of Karnataka in this endeavour. The Government of Karnataka has earmarked Rs. 100 Crores initially for this project.

3. Integrated Mobility Plan
The Directorate is preparing integrated mobility plans for 12 cities  (Wadi, Sedam, Shahabad, Bhatkal, Dandeli, Kumta, Sankeshwar, Raibagh, Bailhongal, Srirangapatna, Maddur, Malavalli) across  Karnataka. The mobility plans for four cities (Wadi, Bhatkal, Sankeshwar, Srirangapatna) are under completion and reports are being finalised.

4. State City Transport Fund
For introduction of city bus services in various cities and for promotion of non-motorised transport Rs. 48.50 Cr in 2013-14, Rs.56.00 Cr. in 2014-15 and Rs.58.00 Cr in 2015-16 has been released for various transport projects.

5. Accessibility to Metro Status
The Directorate is preparing station accessibility plans for 15 metro stations and the plans for 9 metro stations are under finalization

6. Public Bicycle sharing in Mysore City

With 1.6 million American Dollar GEF grant from World Bank the public bicycle sharing project is being implemented in Mysuru. The cabinet has approved the implementation of this project and work is already started. This project will be operationalised with 10 docking stations and 100 bicycles on pilot basis in the month of June 2016.
