Udupi/M’Belle: Vinay Kumar Sorake performs Guddhali Puje and
inauguration of public utilities

Dec 05, 2014: Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister of Urban
Development and In-charge Minister of Udupi District initiated and inaugurated
14 public utility services under the Belle Grama Panchayat jurisdiction on
Friday, 5 December 2014 from 9.30 am to 1 pm.
Minister
Sorake performed guddhali puje to concretize the Thokoli-Bhajana Mandali Road
which will cost around 7.97 lakhs. Thereafter, he proceeded to Nellikatte and
performed guddhali puje to concretize the road leading from the main road by
the side of the Jnanaganga PU College passing towards the Cashew nuts factory
of Mr. Nagraj Kamath.
At
Thirlapalke, Minister Sorake inaugurated the concretized Gandhi Nagar road.
Thereafter he performed the guddhali puje at the teachers colony and also at
Madikettu.
At
Devaragudde, Vinay Kumar Sorake laid the foundation for the Angawadi on the
piece of land donated by B. Sadananda Rao, retired teacher from Church Aided
Higher Primary School, Moodubelle. The minister appreciated the donation of
land by B. Sadananda Rao and asked the people to send their small children to
the Anganwadi.
Proceeding
to Padubelle, Minister Sorake performed guddhali puje for concretized roads at
three places. Thereafter, he inaugurated the newly constructed ‘Annapoorna’
Akshara Dasoha Midday Kitchen in the Higher Primary School, Pamboor. Rev. Fr.
Paul Rego, Parish Priest of the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor and the
Correspondent of the higher primary school was present who blessed the
facility. He honoured Minister Sorake by offering him shawl, garland and fruit
plate. Vinay Kumar Sorake felicitated Gilbert Noronha, the contractor of the
facility. Mrs. Hilda Mathias compeered the brief programme. Headmaster, Herald
D’Mello was present.
The
Minister also visited Arbi and performed guddhali puje for renovation of the
road. Vincent Fernandes made an appeal to the Minister to help in getting
permanent solution to the road rather than getting patch-work done. Vinay Kumar
Sorake assured the villagers that he will do his best to get their problems solved.
The
last engagement of Vinay Kumar Sorake was in the vicinity of the Belle Grama
Panchayat vicinity. He laid the foundation stone for another building in
Santekatte. Thereafter, a public meeting was held in the Geeta Mandir. Speaking
to the villagers, Minister Sorake said that he had initiated as well as
inaugurated 14 public utility services in the Belle Grama Panchayat
jurisdiction. The total amount of the projects is seven and a half crore of
rupees. He narrated the various facilities that the Karnataka Government has
been providing to the villagers. He said that in future, the Stree Shakthi
Groups would be getting an annual grant of Rs.20,000/- in the place of
Rs.5,000/- so far. Besides, the loan amount at the rate 6 percent interest
has been increased from one lakh rupees to three lakh rupees. Another
scheme that the government has introduced is that any unmarried woman above the
age of 40 will be receiving monthly pension of Rs.500/-
Pension
papers and BPL ration cards were distributed to the beneficiaries by the
minister and dignitaries on the dais. The programme was attended by Rajendra
Shetty, President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Lalaji Mendon, former MLA, Kaup,
Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, member of Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Devdas Hebbar, member
of the Udupi taluk Panchayat, Mrs. Jacintah D’Souza, Vice President of Belle
Grama Panchayat, A.G. D’Souza and Harish Shetty, members of the Belle Grama
Panchayat,Rajendra Bekal, Executive Officer of Udupi taluk Panchayat, Tashildar
of Udupi Taluk, Mrs. Benny Quadros,PDO and other officers from the PWD.
