Vented dams proposed across west-flowing rivers in Udupi. Government had decided to spend Rs. 10,000 crore a year in the irrigation sector.

A proposal of Rs. 350-crore had been submitted to the State government to construct vented dams across west-flowing rivers in coastal districts.

Besides providing better irrigation facilities to farmers, these dams would also help raise the groundwater table in Udupi district.
